Thank you to Northwest Community Credit Union!

Learn more about their special investment in Imagination Library of Eugene!

At the virtual Imagination Library Luncheon in September, the credit union announced funding of $250,000 over 5 years for the Imagination Library of Eugene. This funding will enable us to serve all of unincorporated Eugene. It will also support United Way in closing the existing gaps of coverage in all of Lane County. As a result, beginning in January, 2022, every child in Lane County from birth through age four will be eligible to receive Imagination Library books in the mail.

In the announcement, the credit union’s CEO, John Iglesias (pictured above), noted, “There is no more important building block for life than being able to read…. The Imagination Library . . . will spark a lifelong love of learning—books help kids dream BIG, in terms of what’s possible for themselves.” Board Director Jon Ruiz added, “Reaching families at home brings parents and caregivers a tool they can use to teach and learn these skills right along with their child.”

This gift will allow for new recruitment and outreach through key countywide health and human services providers. The credit union also hopes that the gift will inspire others to give to the Imagination Library, particularly other local businesses. The Foundation’s Executive Director, Reed Davaz McGowan, points out that the impact of this gift on early literacy across Eugene will be tremendous. Thank you, Northwest Community Credit Union!
