Our premiere annual event in support of Eugene Public Library: Booked for the Evening, is on Saturday, May 4, at the beautiful downtown library. This year's theme is "Our Library is out of this World!" We anticipate a sold out room of library supporters in attendance! With a nod to the date (May the fourth...), there will be folks making an appearance in Star Wars-themed costumes, with whom there will be fun photo opportunities, along with other activities.
Funds raised at this year's Booked for the Evening will go toward the expansion of the outdoor Children's Courtyard. The Children's Courtyard is the only secured outdoor area attached to the downtown library, which is important because it allows for gross motor play that doesn't happen inside the library. The expansion will also include developmental toys, a covered area so that the courtyard can be used year round, as well as more room for sitting, playing, and storage of large outdoor toys.

A range of lighter fare options, including vegetarian and gluten-free offerings, will be provided in a buffet style. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as desserts, will also be served.

Here are some scenes from 2022 when we were entertained and inspired to give by Honorary Chair, Mayor Lucy Vinis, author Kim Johnson, and our dynamic host, Eugene City Councilor Matt Keating. Will O’Hearn graciously highlighted how Eugene Public Library has met community needs again and again throughout the pandemic, demonstrating how the Library of Things is expanding access to knowledge even more. And we honored Renee Grube who retired as the executive director of Library, Recreation, and Cultural Services.
