Guests were treated to virtual reality experiences and green screen photos during passed wine and hors d’oeuvres in the first hour of the event. Representative Philip and Florence “Flossie” Barnhart served as Honorary Chairs with Flossie’s commitment to library services clearly present during her comments at the event. (See the interview with Flossie in this edition of EPLF’s Fall Newsletter.)
Master of Ceremonies and auctioneer, Matt Keating, used his easy-going manner and great humor to connect with guests. He skillfully navigated the auction and Giving Opportunity with record-breaking results. With an emphasis on travel, trips to London, Manzanita and Lane County wine country were offered for bid. A birthday party at the firehouse was the hot ticket for the night. Attendees responded enthusiastically to an announcement by Nancy Horner, Adult Services Manager, that the library will add a new program to tutor non-literate adults: Our guests gifted over $42,000 for the new initiative in the Giving Opportunity.
The Joe Manis Trio and All That! Dance Company provided entertainment and ambience, completing the night. Booked for the Evening 2018 continued the upward trend for Foundation events, raising over $100,000, with money still arriving! This amazing total will change lives. We are grateful to our generous foundation donors and all who understand what a strong library does for the health of a community.
