EPLF Planned Giving Council 5 year celebration event, January 14th
To celebrate the five years in the “new” Eugene Public Library, the Eugene Public Library Foundation sponsored a wine tasting event for Foundation board members, emeritus members and special guests. The Planned Giving Council presented information about how patrons can give legacy gifts as part of their estate planning. Board president, Kathie Tippens Wiper, presented Planned Giving Council Chair, Laurie McClain, who introduced the evening’s program. Planned Giving Council members, Norm Pendell, Kimberly VanderKley, Dean Kortge, Brian Enos and Larry Deckman presented information about taxes, use of stocks and insurance to leave as legacy, and legal issues that might arise. The presentations were followed by questions from the audience.
Sue Ann Hinman, Events Chair for the Foundation Board, and Laurie McClain organized the event which featured local wines and appetizers that were matched with the appropriate wines. It provided a wonderful opportunity for the members of the Foundation Board and the Planned Giving Council to meet and to share information important to the work of the Foundation.
Wiper Bench Celebration
The Eugene Public Library Foundation hosted an event on July 22 at the Wiper Rotunda to thank those donors who had contributed funds to install benches in the Rotunda and to honor donors who had made the building of the Eugene Public Library possible. The Rotunda had become a gathering place for patrons for reading, quiet conversation and performances. The patrons asked that there be seating provided. The Foundation Board thought this was a good opportunity for named gifts and donors responded.
Donors received an annual report in June outlining the work of the Foundation in supporting the library. The Foundation is exploring new ways to identify areas where such support can make a significant difference to the library.
